How to Use Shortcuts in YakChat

Shortcuts in YakChat let you save and reuse pre-written messages, helping you respond faster and stay consistent. They’re ideal for signatures, greeting messages, terms and conditions, or commonly used replies.

What are Shortcuts?

Shortcuts are predefined messages that can be quickly inserted into a conversation. Once created, they’re always available when composing a message, saving time and reducing repetitive typing.

Create a Shortcut

  1. Open Settings in the YakChat app.

  2. Navigate to the Shortcuts tab.

  3. Click Create Shortcut.

  4. Enter:

    • A name for the shortcut

    • The message content you want to send

  5. Save your shortcut.

Your shortcut is now available to use in any conversation.

Edit or Delete a Shortcut

  1. Go to Settings → Shortcuts.

  2. Select the shortcut you want to manage.

  3. Choose to edit the message or delete the shortcut entirely.

Changes take effect immediately.

Send a Shortcut in a Message

You have two ways to insert a shortcut while composing a message:

Option 1: Use the Shortcut Button

  1. Click the Shortcut icon (lightning bolt) in the message composer.

  2. Select the shortcut you want to send.

  3. The message is inserted into the text area, ready to send.

Option 2: Use a Hashtag

  • While typing a message, enter a hashtag (#) followed by the shortcut name.

  • Select the shortcut from the list to insert it instantly.

This is the fastest way to add a shortcut during a live conversation.

Shortcuts are especially useful for:
